Once upon a time there was a winemaker named Ian Peterson who lived in the Hunter Valley. To celebrate the birth of each of his Grandsons he would create and name a Port in their honour. For the birth of his first Granddaughter, however, he thought it would be more fitting to create a Champagne. He found there was no producer nearby and had to send his base wine interstate to be made into Champagne.
With his Champagne being such a success and there being no producers in NSW he felt there was an opportunity here.
After purchasing the land at the Corner of Broke Road and Wine Country Drive, Ian enlisted the help of friends and family in creating Petersons Champagne House brick by brick.
Now known as Peterson House, we are the only producer of sparkling wines in the Hunter Valley. We are also the only producers using Methode Champenoise on the East Coast of Australia.
We currently produce in excess of 20 styles and varieties of sparkling wines. Some examples are Gateway, Cuvee, Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Verdelho, Blanc De Blanc, Pinot Chardonnay Meunier, Chambourcin and Sparkling Botrytis Semillon to name just a few.
Peterson House is also the producer and creator of the renowned Sparkling Pink Blush, everybody’s favourite. This is our flagship brand, taking over as our Number 1 seller in the Cellar Door.
Peterson House today features a rustic Cellar Door with an open fireplace for winter, an Oyster Bar located on our Cellar Door deck overlooking the pond and Restaurant Cuvee which specialises in a Bubbly Breakfast and Lunch. It is also an idyllic setting for that special Hunter Valley wedding.
Peterson House is also affiliated with the following businesses:
- Petersons Wines
- Savannah Estate
- Petersons Guests House
